The Beauty Pig combines flat sides and a slim body to create the ultimate tool for fall, when bass are chasing baitfish migrating into the tributaries. They are made to dive down to 2.5 feet to crawl through rock and deflect off of it in a way that consistently triggers bites, but if that’s the only scenario where you’re using they you may be missing the boat – our friends in Florida have experienced great success with the Beauty Pig Series over hydrilla and milfoil. When it gets caught up or bogged down in the grass, they rip it clean and the tight-wobbling lure keeps going on its way. Often this is when it loads up with the strike of a monster largemouth.

In addition to the body design, the special lip on the Beauty Pigs contribute to the tight wobble, which excels when fish are lethargic or highly-pressured. You’ll be surprised at how hard a cold-weather fish can strike this plug.

The Beauty Pig comes in Standard and Deep models, so you can offer up the same productive body style and action in two distinct depth ranges as the bite changes throughout the day.

As with all Water Wood crankbaits, each Beauty Pig is water-tested, tuned and completely inspected before being put in the hands of serious anglers. The internally-weighted Marupá Pedra wood maintains the perfect level of buoyancy and optimum vibration for getting fish with low metabolisms to bite.

SATIN MATTE FINISH (SMS) BAITS:

We make many Water Wood crankbaits in both a high-gloss finish and a Satin Matte (SMS). Both have their applications, but we’re repeatedly asked about how we developed the SMS concept, and when it’s at its best. Those of you old enough to remember when cranking was its heyday on Carolina lakes like High Rock, Gaston and Buggs Island may recall that some of the old-time crankers would leave their plugs on the dashboards of their tow vehicles. You may have assumed that the goal was to fade the paint, and that might have been one benefit of the process, but the real goal was to take away the shine.

With a matte finish, like those old-school crankbaits, lures have a more natural, more discreet appearance in the water. A bluegill, bass or blue marlin above the surface may “light up” with color, and has a protective coat of mucus, but under the water they tend to be less gaudy. When fish are ultra-wary, that’s when the matte finishes come into play.

Don’t worry, the process by which we paint the matte finishes makes them remarkably strong and extra-durable. You can bang them into just about anything and they’ll maintain their appearance.
